If we talk about gaming phones in particular then the ASUS ROG Phone is leagues above from competition and ASUS has just added the latest ASUS ROG Phone 6 to the lineup.
Just like every year, the event was packed with a lot of announcements and there were influencers from all over the world participating in the PUBG Mobile tournament. The new ASUS ROG Phone 6 series has two smartphones: ASUS ROG Phone 6 and ASUS ROG Phone 6 Pro. Also, just like previous launches, some ROG Phone 6 accessories were also launched during the event.
Design and Display
In terms of design and display, the new ROG Phone 6 series follows pretty much the same design aesthetic ROG design elements with ROG Aura RGB lighting on the back. The color options for the ROG Phone 6 are Phantom Black and Storm White. Then there is the ROG Phone 6 Pro that comes in a stunning Storm White. The ROG Phone 6 Pro also has a color ROG Vision mini-display on the back.
Now, let’s talk about the displays on these phones. Well, displays are particularly crucial for gaming smartphones as they contribute significantly to the overall gaming experience and for a while, ASUS has been adding some of the most stunning displays to the ROG Phone series and the new ROG Phone 6 and 6 Pro are no exception.
They will come with a stunning 6.78-inch AMOLED and the refresh rate of the display is a crazy 165Hz. Because of the 165Hz panel, users can now enjoy screen refresh rates from 60Hz to 165Hz. Then there is the insane 720Hz tough sampling rate and when you combine it with 23ms touch latency, the gaming experience on this display is going to be just next level.
Powerful Hardware
ASUS ROG Phone series is made for gaming so everything you get on the new ROG Phone 6 series is flagship quality.
Snapdragon has changed the nomenclature of their processors so now the new ROG Phone 6 series comes with the flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Mobile Platform. The Adreno GPU is also enhanced and the site says that these new smartphones are 50% better in terms of performance compared to Snapdragon 888.
There is also Snapdragon Elite Gaming technology on board which can significantly enhance the gaming performance of the smartphone.
If you get the ROG Phone 6 then you can get up to 16GB of RAM combined with 512GB of storage. For ROG Phone 6 Pro, the RAM can be bumped up to 18GB and the storage is the same.
Also, the memory is fast LPDDR5 RAM so all the processing will be blazing fast on the smartphones.
Since ROG Phone 6 and 6 Pro are gaming phones, you also get the iconic AirTrigger 6 and ASUS has upgraded these triggers significantly. Now the triggers support gestures like Dual Action, Gyroscope aiming, Press and Lift, etc.
Speakers
Although most people prefer headphones while gaming, still the ROG Phone 6 comes with GameFX audio system. The system consists of seven-magnet dual speakers that create the perfect stereo sound. For superior sound quality, there is also Dirac Virtuo spatial audio solution technology on board.
Of course, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack for users to get the best gaming experience without any sound lag.
Cameras and Battery
Cameras on gaming phones are not really a priority but still, the new ROG Phone 6 comes with decent cameras. There is a triple camera system on the new ROG Phone 6 that includes a primary Sony IMX766 50 MP main wide-angle camera. Then there is a 13-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a macro sensor on the back. Along with that, there is the 12-megapixel front camera which would be great for all the streamers.
Accessories for ROG Phone 6
Along with the ROG Phone 6 series ASUS has also launched a lot of accessories including AeroActive Cooler 6, ROG Kunai 3 Gamepad for ROG Phone 6, ROG Phone 6 Glass Screen Protector, cases, etc. The key highlight of the accessories though is the AeroActive Cooler 6 which is a thermoelectric cooler that has AI capabilities.
Along with that, ASUS has also announced new headsets including the ROG Cetra True Wireless and Wireless Pro. Then there are the ROG Delta S Wireless and ROG Delta S Core headsets.
Pricing
The new ASUS ROG Phone 6 is priced at EUR 999 for the base model and the price for the ROG Phone 6 Pro base model is going to be EUR 1299.
