The LuFact A2000 is a new smart camera that Nikon has added to its lineup of compact cameras. The LuFact A2000-G Artificial Intelligence-based functional unit is incorporated into the latest camera, which is in conjunction with the LuFact models of camera tops. Without a computer connection, the camera uses edge AI computing to improve object inspection speed and accuracy.
The first machine vision camera series
The LuFact series is Nikon’s first line of machine vision cameras, and it boasts powerful image processing technology that has been created over a long period of digital camera evolution. By isolating the meeting point (I/F conversion factor) that handles picture modeling from the camera head that takes pictures, the ultra-compact LuFact model was made possible.
Easy installation on existing machinery, industrial lines, robot hands, and many more diverse applications is made possible by this effective design. This release of LuFact products comprised two distinct I/F converter units with different transmission standards, a high-sensitivity variant, and a high-resolution model of camera heads.
The term “Luminous Factory Camera” gave rise to the brand name LuFact, which refers to a camera that greatly enhances manufacturing capacity by making previously invisible objects visible. To boost production, cut costs, and develop new goods and services, manufacturing facilities are increasingly in need of digital transformation.
To automate the surveillance & visual inspection of production processes that were carried out by people earlier, machine vision cameras need to record images with ultra-fine sensitivity & resolution.
The cameras must also be small, light, and have a lot of installation freedom when they are being thought of for installation on current equipment, within production lines, robot hands & more. This brand-new model, LuFact A2000 joins the “LuFact A1000,” which was unveiled in July of this year and is utilized in conjunction with a computer and digital input/output device.
Introducing the new LuFact A2000
LuFact makes use of decades of advancements in Nikon’s digital camera technology. Its ultra-compact design and high-speed processing significantly increase operations and efficiency to enable the digital revolution at industrial facilities to capture photos with outstanding sensitivity and quality. In conjunction with the LuFact line of camera heads, the “LuFact A2000” uses the “LuFact A2000-G” AI processing unit. The “LuFact A2000-G” is a cutting-edge AI-based computing camera with an integrated Central Processing Unit & a standalone processor apart from the features of the LuFact A1000.
Edge AI makes it possible to independently judge and process inspection data on-site, which minimizes the quantity of data transferred to the server, lessening the strain on the server and transmission hardware and resulting in lower power usage.
By systematizing the “LuFact A2000,” you can increase inspection speed and accuracy by enabling processing on the camera (edge AI) and cloud/server sides. Furthermore, edge AI processing isolates and sends only the information that is required to the cloud or server, lowering server load and power usage.
Owing to its superior sensing technology, Japanese companies like DMG Mori Seiki Co., Ltd. are interested in deploying it as monitoring cameras. With numerous options available, the LuFact series enables Nikon customers to customize their system configuration for the shooting target and application.
In this series are the global shutter CMOS image sensors “LuFact CH050-MG” and “LuFact AH050-MG,” both of which can capture moving objects and are capable of high-resolution color photography.
Additionally, the previously launched high-sensitivity “LuFact AH020-MR” or the high-resolution “LuFact AH080-MR” can be paired with the “LuFact A2000-G,” providing a wider variety of options for system configuration to meet application needs. Nikon has unveiled that the camera can be available in Japan in spring 2023.
