Nikon Corporation has proudly announced their release of NIKKOR Z prime lens, a compact and lightweight architecture, exuding the compatibility with a full-frame mirrorless camera. NIKKOR Z 28mm f/2.8 is designed exclusively to feature in the Nikon Z mount system, suiting the configuration of Nikon FX-format – Z series cameras.
The fast aperture and wide-angle lens offer portability owing to its small size and lightweight body and is ideal for capturing casual snapshots, be it everyday shooting, group portraits, cityscapes, or even landscapes.

This time, Nikon Corporation presents the NIKKOR Z mirrorless lens for Nikon-Z series cameras. However, the development of the product has already been announced back in June.
The NIKKOR Z 28mm f/2.8 was announced back then with NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2, the two small, lightweight mirrorless lenses for the Nikon Z mount system. Also, a special edition of the NIKKOR Z lens already exists.
Presented in a portable design

Among all NIKKOR Z prime lenses, NIKKOR Z 28mm f/2.8 is the smallest and lightest, approximately 43 mm in size and roughly weighing 155g, presented with a super portable design.
The lens is ideal for capturing everyday shots leveraging the 28mm wide view angle and perfect for close-up photography, utilizing the least focus distance of 0.19m.
With its wide view portability feature, the lens eases capturing everyday snapshots, cityscapes, and even still photography. It also presents a high-cost performance, making it even attractive to Nikon Z series users, be it amateur photographs or professional photographs.

What are the new features?
The smallest of all prime lenses introduced by Nikon in the Z series, NIKKOR Z 28mm f/2.8, comes with a length of 43 mm approximately, whereas weighing only 155g. The lens offers a fast aperture, lowering the camera shake, even during handheld shooting.
Upon mounting the new lens on a DX-format camera, the lens’s focal length increases to 42mm. Additionally, the lens has a minimum focus distance of 0.19m, which offers convenience during dynamic photography.
The lens packs a multi-focusing system, positioned accurately by the collaboration of multiple AF drive units with great precision. The system renders fast and accurate AF control, maintaining a compact size. The lens further presents a dust-and-drip resistance feature to exert confidence on the go.
Even the control ring can deal with the aperture and exposure compensation functionalities. Moreover, the prime lens is set up with video recording in quiet operations, stable exposure.
The new lens differs from the Special edition NIKKOR Z 28mm f/2.8 lens, presenting a modem and stylish black finish. The mirrorless lens can be available from December 2021 at a suggested price of $299.95.
