Leica unveils Leitz Phone 2, debuting the Leica camera experience

Leica launched the Leitz Phone-1 (1st self-branded mobile) that was launched in 2021, Japan by partnering with Sharp & SoftBank. The Deutsche image creator revealed the Leitz Phone 2, its 2nd gen smartphone, an aptly named sequel.

The renowned image expert’s new and second smartphone offers improved imaging and additional one-of-a-kind functionality to integrate consumers into the Leica brand of photographic marvel. The latest Leitz Phone-2 is made of the Sharp Aquos R7 handset, which got its launch earlier this year.

Unlike the Leitz Phone 1, which is the successor of the Aquos R6. The software and the color scheme are the only crucial difference between the first and second general Leitz models.

Leica’s signature photography experience in a smartphone

The Leitz Phone 2 from Leica, designed for photographers and those who want to be, combines unwavering quality and exceptional optics, distinctive aluminum design, and cutting-edge picture capabilities. The standalone color for the Leitz Phone 2 is “Leica White”, unlike The Leitz Phone 1 which got a black color grading.

The mobile body is different from any “Leica” promotion. But, “Leitz” branding is engraved. Being seen on the camera loop, in the center of the rear panel & on the metal lens lid accessory that has the camera.

With a user-friendly interface (inspired by Leica), the device has Android 12 as a surprise package. Additionally, Leica created the Golden Hour widget just for the Leitz Phone 2 to show the golden hour times during the sunrise and sunset when the warm light is ideal for taking beautiful images. A unique LFI widget can display pictures taken by Leica photographers.

The camera app has options like, “Leitz looks” that mimic Leica M lenses. For choosing the Leica M model shutter audio & Leica filters there are various options apart from seamless settings which cover Leica camera UI. The Leitz Phone 2 from Leica got a similar feature as the Sharp Aquos R7, except for the above tweaks.
