CORSAIR-owned Elgato launched Facecam Pro, an advanced webcam that can capture videos in 4K quality at 60 fps. The Facecam Pro, the follow-up to the original Facecam, enhances its predecessor in many ways. For instance, its f/2.0 aperture is larger than the f/2.4 of the original Facecam.
The Elgato Facecam Pro is the first webcam to produce 4K at 60 frames per second footage, making it stand out from other still-amazing webcams on the market. It also has the largest sensor of any webcam.
These, together with the additional capabilities Elgato crammed into its 4.6 x 1.5 x 3.1-inch frame, make it a game-changer for people who depend on their webcams to make ends meet. But Facecam Pro offers more than just image resolution and frame rate.
The new webcam also has a 1/1.8-inch Sony Starvis sensor, the largest sensor ever found in a webcam. The images in your videos will be substantially crisper thanks to this sensor’s improved noise performance and expanded dynamic range.
The first of its kind
The Elgato Facecam Pro’s size is probably the first feature you’ll notice. It is a big one, measuring 4.6 x 1.5 x 3.1 inches, about twice the size of the Elgato Facecam, and it has what appears to vent near the back to prevent overheating of its more potent internal components.
It looks authentic & more like professional equipment, like a consumer webcam with its size and vents. Its plastic build plays a big part in its relative lightweight for its size. Putting on a laptop, even a 17-inch one, might be too bulky or hefty at 240g without the mount.
Installation becomes very quick with its plug-and-play, like the Facecam, and it is compatible with Mac because of its USB-C interface. The USB-C cable has a solid, high-quality feel & also incredibly flexible, making it simple to store or move out of the way. Sadly, there isn’t an actual cover or shutter for privacy.
Elgato’s Camera Hub, meanwhile, appears to have undergone an upgrade to provide massive support for the Facecam Pro. Additionally, you’ll have much flexibility over the webcam’s settings, which provide you with more artistic freedom when choosing your exposures.

With Elgato’s high-end AF lens, you can choose between manual controls for more static shots or autofocus so you can roam about while filming. Because you can do this, Facecam Pro might be used for pictures that call for you to stand farther away from the camera.

But the 300USD price tag is a premium. Even though it’s one of the priciest webcams offered to consumers, if you have some extra cash sitting around, it’s a webcam that’s worth the price!
