Canon has a lot of new announcements related to lenses. They have announced three new lenses recently. Two lenses belong to the new Flex Zoom Lens series and then there is a flagship field zoom lens called UHD-DIGISUPER 122 AF. Let’s have a look at them:
First of all, we have the new series of EF Cinema Lens from Canon and this series is called Flex Zoom Lens. The series is aimed to bring better efficiency to the workflow and also bring the cinema-style quality with full-frame cameras.
Here are the first two lenses in the Flex Zoom Lens Series:
- CN-E20-50mm T2.4 L F/FP wide-angle zoom lens
- CN-E45-135mm T2.4 L F/FP telephoto zoom lens
Both the lenses have a wide T2.4 aperture that truly brings out the beauty in cinematic shots.
These lens series also belong to the EF Cinema lens series from Canon so naturally, they will be easier to use and will also bring world-class optical design and performance.
The CN-E20-50mm T2.4 L F/FP wide-angle zoom lens comes with a focal length ranging from 20mm to 50mm and then the CN-E45-135mm T2.4 L F/FP telephoto zoom lens comes with a focal length of 45-135mm. Both of the lenses have multiple focal lengths which makes them versatile for shooting TV programs, ads, and a lot of other scenarios in cinematic mode.
The new Flex Zoom Lens series is mainly aimed at full-frame or large-format cameras. This is because these lenses can take the advantage of the shallow depth-of-field look of full-frame cameras and produce a stronger background blur that looks stunning.
In case you are interested in seeing the new Flex Zoom Lens series, you have a look at them at NAB Show 2022 at Booth #C4432 in Las Vegas.
As per the availability info, Canon says that the Canon CN-E20-50mm T2.4 L F/FP wide-angle zoom lens will be coming in early June 2022 and the Canon CN-E45-135mm T2.4 L F/FP telephoto zoom lens will be coming in early September 2022. The lenses will be priced at around USD 21,999.
The next big announcement from Canon is the launch of the UHD-DIGISUPER 122 AF lens. This new field zoom lens from Canon is just something else. It is made for 4K broadcast cameras having 2/3-inch sensors. The lens comes with autofocus and as per Canon, this lens provides the “world’s widest angle”, “largest zoom” and “longest focal length”.
Not only that, but Canon has also announced two focus demand accessories namely The Canon FDJ-S31 and FDJ-S41.
Coming back to the UHD-DIGISUPER 122 AF lens, this is a flagship zoom lens from Canon. It is specially made for 4K broadcast cameras and as per Canon, it is their first broadcast 4K lens that comes with built-in AF.
This new field zoom lens from Canon is great for people who cover sports events like racing, cricket, baseball, etc. Not only that, but it is also great for concerts, indoor events, and outdoor events with a lot of crowds.
The AF on this lens is quick and extremely accurate and has impeccable subject tracking which allows you to capture stunning moments in 4K.
The new UHD-DIGISUPER 122 AF can be called the successor of the widely praised DIGISUPER 100 AF which was released way back in June 2006.
If we talk in technical terms then this lens comes with a zoom range of 8.2 mm at the wide end and 1,000 mm at the telephoto end. So that makes a 122x zoom ratio which is easily the biggest zoom range for any zoom lens with AF made for 2/3-inch sensor 4K broadcast cameras.
Just like the New Flex Zoom Lens series, you can also get a look at the new Canon UHD-DIGISUPER 122 AF lens at NAB Show 2022 at Booth #C4432 in Las Vegas along with the new Canon FDJ-S31 and FDJ-S41 focus demand accessories.
The pricing details about the lens and the accessories are not available yet. However, the lens and the accessories are will be available at the beginning of July 2022.
