People are so used to seeing grand launch events by Apple that it can easily slip that the California tech giant also launches new products via press releases. In a similar fashion, Apple made two big announcements recently.
The first one is the new iPad Pro, which now comes with an M2 chip, and then there is also a new iPad 10th Gen in new colors. Both of the new iPad models bring some new features and upgrades, so let’s dive right in and see what the new upgrades are.
New iPad Pro Models Now with M2 Chip
The iPad Pro is Apple’s flagship tablet with all the top-of-the-line specs you can imagine. There are two variants for the iPad Pro. First is the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, and then there is the 11-inch iPad Pro. The 12.9-inch iPad Pro has the best Liquid Retina XDR display, the same as the Pro Display XDR monitor.

Because of the new M2 chips on both of the variants, these iPad Pro models can now reach next-level performance. The good thing is that they will also come with iPadOS 16 right out of the box, so you can take advantage of the new iPadOS 16 features such as Stage Manager, Desktop-class apps, Reference Mode, etc.
Both the iPad Pro and iPadOS 16 combine to deliver you a stunning pencil hovering experience as the new iPad Pro models can detect the Apple Pencil at 12 mm above the display. The new models also come with WiFi 6E to provide blazing-fast connectivity.
Pricing and Availability
You can order the new iPad Pro with the M2 chip right now, and they will start shipping on October 26. The price for 11-inch iPad Pro with the M2 chip starts at USD 799, and the price for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro starts at USD 1,099.
iPad 10th Generation with New Design and Stunning Colors
iPad is one of the most famous tablets from Apple, and that is because of its relatively affordable price. In the last iPad-related event, Apple upgraded it with new specs but didn’t change the design. However, with the new iPad(10th generation), Apple has also changed the design and added some stunning new colors.

Here is all that is new on the new iPad 10th gen:
- 10.9-inch Liquid Retina LCD Display
- A14 Bionic
- 4 New Colors: Silver, Pink, Blue, and Yellow
- 12-megapixel Landscape Ultra Wide front camera
- USB-C port
- Support for Apple Pencil 1st Gen
The new design is similar to the other iPads with squared edges, and this one looks stunning in the new color options. Even the TouchID is now on the lock button, and there is no prominent chin on the bottom. The design is very compelling of these iPads.
The new iPad also has a new Landscape two-speaker audio system. The new A14 Bionic chip can deliver better performance than its predecessor.
It has a new 12MP Wide camera with f/1.8 aperture on the back. It is capable of recording 4K at 24 fps, 25 fps, 30 fps, or 60 fps. Then on the front, it has a new 12-megapixel Landscape Ultra Wide front camera which is now in landscape orientation which is how most people use their iPads when they take calls.
Another great thing is that it now has a USB Type-C port which can be suitable for people using USB Type-C devices. The only bummer is that it has support for only the Apple Pencil 1st Gen. For users with an Apple Pencil 1st Gen, the charging can be done by USB-C to the Apple Pencil Adapter is sold separately for USD 9.
Pricing and Availability
You can pre-order the new iPad(10th Generation) right now, and they will start shipping on October 26. The new iPad(10th Generation) price starts at USD 449 for the WiFi model and USD 599 for the cellular model.
Final Thoughts
The M2 chip upgrade on the new iPad Pro models is a pretty good thing, but it is overkill because the iPad Pro with M1 chips is already quite fast. So the user base for the new iPad Pro will be small.
On the other hand, the new iPad(10th Generation), with a new design and some subtle improvements, is a compelling product. However, Apple is continuing the iPad(9th Generation), which is more affordable. So it will be interesting to see how many users will go for the new version for subtle improvements and pay the higher price.
