Last week, Apple unveiled its M2 chip & an updated MacBook Air during WWDC 2022 program, but that isn’t the 1st to feature the new processor. The M2 was offered in the standard chassis of Apple’s 13-inches wide MacBook Pro starting this Friday, 17th June, before the latest MacBook Air reaches globally in July 2022.
With a 10-core GPU and up to 24GB of memory, the M2 chip outperforms the M1 in terms of graphics performance. The new MacBook is designed for professionals who need to multitask and run countless programs simultaneously.
To summarize the most elegant MacBook Pro series yet, the 13-inch MacBook Pro with pre-installed M2 adds to the robust 14 & 16-inch MacBook Pro that has M1 Pro & M1 Max. The 13-inch MacBook Pro starts at $1,299 and $1,199 for education, with high efficiency & features than ever.
Upgraded with M2
The MacBook Pro comes in two colors: silver and space grey & have a 13-inch Retina Display for 2560×1600 resolution. It has the same form factor as the 13-inch model, measuring 1.56 cm thick and weighing 3 pounds.
The design features of the 13-inch M2 MacBook Pro & M1 MacBook Pro looks quite similar. The Touch Bar, which had previously been removed from the MacBook series, is one of the most notable examples. Active cooling is another significant addition, which helps maintain performance for more power-hungry applications.
That implies an octa-core CPU that contains 4 performance & 4 efficiency cores, including a 10-cored GPU & a memory bandwidth of around 100GB/s. The M2 is 18% faster than its predecessor M1 chip. The M2’s Unified Memory is also 50% quicker than the M1, with 50% more bandwidth. It may also be customized to hold up to 24GB of data instead of the M1’s 16GB.
The 13-inch MacBook Pro is roughly 40% faster than the previous generation for customers working with RAW photographs in apps like Affinity Photo & around 3.4x faster for consumers moving from a machine lacking Apple silicon. Graphic-oriented headings like Baldur’s Gate 3 function more than 40% faster than before & around 3.3 times quicker for consumers upgrading over earlier versions – sans Apple chips.
ProRes encode & decode features into the MacBook Pro, offering customers to repeat around 11 videos of 4K & 2 streams of 8K ProRes visual. It also has two Thunderbolt/USB 4 connectors that support charging & data transfer. It can also run one external display at 60Hz with a resolution of around 6K.
More highlights
The 13-inch MacBook Pro comes with macOS Monterey, which incorporates Continuity technologies like Universal Control, allowing users to work seamlessly across Mac and iPad. It provides customers additional ways to reach, resolve & operate their systems seamlessly.
The usual 720p FaceTime HD camera is one of the other highlights. The M2 MacBook Pro comes with stereo speakers, Spatial Audio compatibility, and Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0. Its 58.2Wh battery features up to 20 hours of battery life. Finally, up to 2TB of SSD storage is also available.
The new 13-inch MacBook Pro reduces its environmental effect by using 100% recycled rare earth metals in the enclosure magnets and 100% recycled tin in the main logic board’s solder, making it further energy efficient.
