Just recently, Amazon announced the newest member in the Fire series which is the new 12th Generation Fire HD 8.
It is an 8-inch tablet with a lot of cool features for users who like to watch content from streaming apps and read a lot from their tablet. So let’s see what the new tablet brings to the table as there are a lot of cool tablet options available in the market already.
Design and Display
The new Fire HD 8 has a pretty generic and basic design with thick bezels on all sides which will make it easy to grip. It is available in three colors(Black, Denim, and Rose) that look quite good. On the top, it has a power button, volume controls, a USB-C port, a mic, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a microSD card slot on the side. It has a 2-megapixel camera on the back and a 2-megapixel camera on the front.
In terms of display, it comes with an 8-inch HD display that has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, giving you 189ppi.
Hardware
For its price, the new Fire HD 8 has decent internals. It comes with a new Hexa-core processor combined with 2GB of RAM. Then there are two storage options, 32GB or 64GB.
There is a microSD card slot that can be used to expand the storage for up to 1TB. Then the 2-megapixel cameras on the front and the back can provide you with 720p HD video recording.
Software
This tab will already come with apps like Prime Video, HBO, Netflix, Zoom, Disney+, Kindle, etc. Users will be able to download apps from the Amazon Appstore. Google Play Store will not be supported on this device.
Since it is an Amazon device, you will also get seamless support from Alexa. So you can use it as your voice assistant.
The tab will also have two variants, the first one will have ads on the lock screen and this going to be a bit cheaper. Then there will be an ad-free version that will have no ads on the lock screen and it will be a little expensive.
Battery and Sound
With the new Fire HD 8, users will get amazing battery life as Amazon says that it can last for up to 13 hours on a full charge. In terms of audio, you will be getting dual speakers on the tablet which can easily provide you with a decent sound performance at this price range.
Verdict
The baseline version of the new Fire HD 8 2022 starts from $100 and it is now available for pre-order. The tablets will start shipping somewhere in October. These are not a bad option if you are just a casual user who wants to watch some stuff on their tab every now and then.
